Continue on for more on the peek at the documentary crew and the Pam and Jim storyline this season. I think it's really too bad, I liked that show a lot, I thought it was really funny.

If The Farm had been picked up, then Paul would have been writing all of the Dwight stories and it would have had to do with the characters that were in the pilot, it would have been the series regulars of that show. A very large part of last week's episode was Dwight getting to be the manager finally. IGN: I'm curious about the storyline changes made heading toward the finale when The Farm was not picked up, but I imagine that she would not have been in play at all if the pilot had gone forward. And there's a wonderful hour-long retrospective before the finale that has been put together with a lot of good clips, so I would encourage people to watch that too. But on the fan side, I think it's just that he is such a beloved character and they want to see him again.

I think everybody wants to drive traffic to their website instead of to the show when it airs on the TV which is like, why should anybody participate in that process? IGN: Well that's a large question that's discussed and I don't think there is an easy or simple answer.

IGN: Well, that's a whole other question, which mostly has to do with business. The Office: Angela Kinsey and Ellie Kemper Discuss the Finale IGN: Is that frustrating? Daniels: Yeah, I think it's kind of ridiculous to be.You know I just don't understand the desire for entertainment journalists to tell things before they're on the air. And now that's what everybody wants to talk about. IGN: Was that challenging for you? All the discussion of will he or won’t he? The discussions that you guys had versus the discussions that were had in the press and publicly? Daniels: Well, what's ironic is that he didn't want to do it because he didn't want to overshadow the finale with discussions of Michael's return, since the finale is not about that, it's about the endings for all of the other characters. IGN: So you're saying that he is in fact not appearing in the finale at all? Daniels: I don't know, I've said it so many different ways, but I'll say that I think it's wishful thinking on people's parts. I'm assuming it's been motivated by the fact that he did a surprise appearance at the big Scranton event that we had last weekend. Daniels: I don't know, you know I think there's a lot of wishful thinking. TV Line is reporting that he definitely is, in a minor way. Press reports saying that he is, press reports saying that he's not. IGN: There's been a lot of chatter about Michael Scott returning, or not, in the finale. But I believe that the way that the storyline is turning out from this last one that people are happy and that, you know, they got through the anxious part and enjoyed the last part. I would see feedback online from people who were just really worried. And I think that some of the audience maybe couldn't handle some of the anxiety that we were putting into the storylines for a while. I think that one of the things we were doing this season was to inject some anxiety in people about what was going to happen.

And pretty much everyone who worked on the show was happy and in concert with what we were doing. I mean I had a pretty good sense, and so did all the cast, that we wanted to do certain things that we had talked about. So did you take that in, or did you just sort of let go of that and approach it as you would any other story or any other season? Greg Daniels: Well, maybe I was overconfident, I don't know. IGN: Can you talk about some of the pressure you may, or may not, have felt coming into this season and working towards the finale? There was a tremendous amount of fan expectation surrounding this final season.
